It’s something I’ve been self-conscious about for as long as I can remember.

These situations still make me anxious:

Shaking a prospect’s hand for the first time…

Meeting new people at a networking event…

Shaking everyone’s hand if I’m working onsite with a client…

I avoided shaking hands for the longest time…or I’d wash my hands every 5-10 minutes.

I’m not sure it’s something that’ll ever change. But I’ve learned to accept it.

Now if my hands are sweaty, I tell people, “My hands are super sweaty, how about we fist bump instead?”

The response is usually a laugh or, “Dude I really appreciate that actually.”

There are things we’re self-conscious about that keep us from being present with our prospects and customers.

Maybe you get a little nervous when you make a cold call…

Or you have an accent…

Or when you send a video you don’t like how you look.

Instead of letting it hold you back, own it.

You don’t need to apologize for who you are or for things you can’t change.
