Low response rates to your outbound sequences? Automation is likely the culprit.
And you should turn it off.
When a prospect spots automation, nine times out of ten it’s going to turn them off.
It’s like getting a direct mail piece that, at first glance, looks handwritten. But when you look closer, they just used a printed font that looks handwritten.
They got 95% of the way there, but that last 5% made it feel disingenuous. And was the difference between you opening it or not.
The same thing is happening with our sequences.
The content is pretty good. There’s personalization and context in there.
But after the first email, the follow-ups wreak of automation.
We hit start on the sequence, and it’s out of sight out of mind.
Here’s what to do to increase your response rates:
✅ Make all of the emails in your sequence manual tasks. Force yourself to physically click send with every email.
This will make you more critical of your messaging. You’ll change subtle things that seem out of context. You’ll add more value.
Then use those changes to update the email templates.
Try this with 25 of your prospects this week.
How do you make your sequences feel less automated?
